Each author we read in unit 2 writes from a very personal place, shares their personal experience and/or couple it with other forms of evidence. Compose an original essay in which you explain the cultural relevance (relevant to multicultural audiences) of three of the texts from unit two. Can one person’s experience represent an entire group’s? Is that what the texts are trying to do? If not, then what’s the purpose of those texts? What is each of the texts arguing about language? race? class? education? family? intellect? religion? place of origin? Perhaps all of the above? Why or how can these texts apply to a wider audience outside of those that share similar backgrounds to the authors? (language, religion, cuisine, etc)
