1a. Identify your dominant conflict style. (I chose, “Compromising,” as my conflict style. Write one paragraph explaining why this is my preferred conflict style.
2. After reading the following question below and reading what my team answered, I (Helen) need to contribute and summarize all of their thoughts together. What does your team anticipate could be 2 or 3 key challenges it may face, given the team’s mix of conflict styles?
John- I know myself well enough that in the absence of direction or leadership, I am prone to take the initiate and take charge. This can be really helpful to get the ball rolling and get work started, but it doesn’t allow for collaboration. It’s a much more directive approach rather than give and take. Zohair- In my personal opinion, I feel there may not be much of a challenge since the majority of the conflict styles go hand in hand. When you have team members that are compromising, and accommodating. In the end, you are able to bring results to the table and work together efficiently. Tania- I have a “get it done” attitude. In the event someone slacks, I will take charge and finish the project. Although the goal will be met, this will leave me feeling disappointed with others. Shane – Given our teams conflict management styles, we all should work well together. We have a good balance of collaboration, competing, compromising, and accommodating styles. Our group seems to value relationships which makes communication easy. These open lines of communication will benefit us as we all work towards the same goal. With that being said, the only challenge I see arising is the ability for the group to all be on the same page as we work remotely. Helen- ?
3. What decisions or commitments onk how to work together can the team make now to prevent or mitigate some of these anticipated challenges?
1b. Given your own dominant conflict style, what will you need to do more of or less of in your team’s anticipated challenges and adjustments? Answer for, “Helen.”
Shane: As someone who leans in the direction of collaborating/accommodating management style, I often do not give a strong stance or argument toward ideas I might think work best. Sometimes it may be helpful to voice my opinion because others who fall in the same management style as me might think the same way but also not voice it. Overall, I want to be open to all ideas that are presented and keep the team working like a well-oiled machine. John: I Need to take my time to slow my tempo. Not every issue needs a decisive immediate answer, especially in academia where there is special emphasis on collaboration. However, one attribute of my dominant conlift style that could be helpful is being decisive when the group is stagnant. Tania: I’m a collaborator, therefore, in the event of challenges I will try to be the mediator and try to work with the team to find a solution to any problem. Zohair: My conflict style is compromising. I believe the style speaks for itself. In this style it is important to take everyone’s part of view into consideration. With that being said, I believe it will be quite simple to work together with different individuals and not face many challenges. Helen: ?

You are the HR Manager at a medium sized company where most of the work is done by people sitting at their desks all day. Most of the company executives are in their mid-50s; there are employees in all age groups. The executive board is concerned with productivity and the bottom line. They have made it clear that their priority for you is to recruit and retain the best workers and to manage attendance.
You would like to introduce a wellness program.
You’ve been invited to give a presentation to the executive board.

3. What elements of persuasion will you use?
